Some people celebrate Easter as if it had something to do with the resurrection of Jesus Christ, even though they know perfectly well, that Easter is just a continuation of an ancient fertility rite. Well, we don't! We don't use make believe rabbits, or eggs that supposedly came from rabbits. Did you know that the custom of coloring eggs came from the fact that the ancient pagans used to dip eggs in blood, as part of a fertility rite? And, no, we don't celebrate any of the other pagan nonsense that goes with Easter, and is a good money maker for unscrupulous retailers.
Did you know? Our Hispanic brothers and sisters have it right! They celebrate Domingo de la Resurrection. ( The Sunday of the resurrection )
We also celebrate the resurrection of our Passover lamb,- the Lord Jesus Christ. The Apostle Paul wrote, " Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. "
1 Corinthians 5:7Some Christians celebrate Passover, and we have no problem with that. Christ observed Passover at what we often call the Last Supper, and seemed to indicate that as often as we did the same, we should do it in remembrance of Him. The early church celebrated Passover, at least thru most of the first century. Some Christians only take communion on Passover. I don't hold to that view, since our family takes communion together daily. But, I understand where they are coming from.
I find it repulsive that professing Christians have allowed the resurrection of our Lord to be turned into a pagan fertility festival. SHAME. SHAME. SHAME. This is one more reason, why those churches in America, that claim to be Christian, desperately need to repent, before it is too late.

Our Sunday AM services are being held at the Mexico Beach Civic Center. In accordance with federal laws, we have permission to use this heated, and air conditioned, facility on Sunday mornings at 9:30 AM central time. We begin with a short time of greeting and fellowship, and then TJ leads us in worship. After the service we have holy communion, a time when people can request prayer, especially for healing, and sometimes, a pot luck luncheon.
The Mexico Beach Civic Center is located at 105 N. 31st Street. It is the white building with the dark green roof, which is just behind that new Mexico Beach restaurant, Mango Marley's. It is behind Parker Realty, and is on the northeast side of Rte 98. It is about 7/10 mile south of the Mexico Beach Welcome Center.
